Family Friendly Tourist Attractions Near Carson California
There are many cities that you probably would rather visit without children with you, however Carson has a lot to of things for families to enjoy. There are lots of attractions in and around Carson that kids, teens and adults can all enjoy together.
One of the first stops you will want to make when visit Carson with kids is GoKart World. This popular and super fun attraction can be found on Recreation Road, just off I-405. You can easily spend a day here racing around the six go kart tracks, having fun on the bumper car track, playing the many different arcade games or watching your small children enjoy the kiddie go kart tracks. You can refuel by having pizza in the on-site restaurant. A fun fact about Go Kart World is that Kanye West has been known to frequent the establishment to be sure to watch out for him and other celebrities.
Of course no trip to Carson would be complete without visiting Disneyland. Children and adults young at heart alike will definitely enjoy a day at the original Disneyland Park or the newer California Adventure Park. The Disneyland area is just a 30 minute drive east of Carson in the city of Anaheim. For the best deal, you will probably want to look into purchasing one of the 3-6 day park hopper tickets. Keep in mind, children that are younger than 3 can get into the parks for free.
Another fun theme park you might have heard about, Universal Studios, is located about 30 minutes north of Carson in Los Angeles. There is lots of fun to be had at this well-known park. From touring studio lots and watching television shows being filed to riding roller coasters and flume rides. There is something from everyone at this park, and children younger than three get in for free.
One other fun theme park can be found 20 miles east of Carson in the town of Buena Park. This 160 acre theme park, called Knott's Berry Farm offers nearly 40 different rides for kids of all ages, and adults too. If one of your traveling companions loves Snoopy, you will definitely not want to miss Knott's Berry Farm, as an entire section of the park is dedicated to Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts characters. The best time to visit the park is around Christmas or Halloween because the park is specially decorated for those holidays.
While it is almost an hour south of Carson in Carlsbad, you will definitely want to make the trip to Lego Land if you're traveling with a Lego Maniac. This huge park was designed for children aged 2 to 12 and features tons of structures built only from Legos. There are also lots of fun rides and slides for all to enjoy.
If your kids are into science and discoveries, you will want to visit the California Science Center in northern Los Angeles. This huge museum offers lots of different exhibits that teach both kids and adults about mummies, ecology, space, inventions and lots more. There are lots of different hands-on activities that kids and adults will have fun with and there is an IMAX theater too. You will be happy to hear that there is no admission fee to visit the museum. There is a $10 fee for parking so keep that in mind. The science center can be visited everyday from 10 in the morning until 5 in the evening.
If looking to stay in town, Carson has several excellent city parks, many of which has Frisbee golf courses, wading pools, nature trails and picnic areas. There are also two large aquatic centers that have pools for adults and small children as well as water slides and water spray features. Don’t forget about the miles and miles of Pacific coastline there is to explore. You can enjoy a day relaxing on the shore while the little ones splash in the water or have a day of family fun learning how to surf, paddle board or scuba dive. To get an up-close and personal look at the ocean life, check out the Aquarium of the Pacific Northwest located in Long Beach.
